In a strategic initiative to strengthen ethical trade and transparency in the global cacao market, Cacao Link Company, a cacao export company based in Madagascar, successfully completed its registration for the Whole-Chain International Standard for Supply Chain Integrity. Administered by the Institute of Innovation and Advanced Learning (IIAL), the certification process was led by IIAL team members who applied rigorous data analysis, traceability tools, and sustainability performance metrics to evaluate and validate the company’s supply chain operations.
Working closely with Cacao Link Company’s executive leadership, the IIAL team assessed operational, sourcing, and compliance data and developed a customized dashboard to capture key indicators related to environmental impact, product traceability, and ethical sourcing practices. The result was a transparent and verifiable system that mapped the entire journey of cacao, from origin to export, in full alignment with the principles of the Whole-Chain International Standard.
The successful registration of Cacao Link Company highlights the effectiveness of IIAL’s applied research framework in advancing integrity, accountability, and sustainability. Building on prior registrations, such as Acaima Café in Colombia, this project demonstrates the replicability of the active research methodology applied to create social and sustainable business impact across sectors and geographies. As a result, Cacao Link Company is now positioned as a trusted supplier in the international cacao trade, reinforcing the impact of social innovation projects in Madagascar for ethical and sustainable agricultural exports.
